Injury & Workers' Compensation

Taibi Law Group represents individuals and families that have suffered serious injuries in motor vehicle wrecks or catastrophic injuries at workplace or on construction sites

Durham Injury Attorneys
Many of our clients have suffered serious injuries in motor vehicle wrecks or catastrophic injuries at their workplace or on construction sites.  Some have experienced long hospital stays and months of rehabilitation.  Some have had difficulties returning to work and some live their lives with daily pain or permanent disabilities.  The personal injury lawyers at Taibi Law Group effectively and compassionately fight for each and every client we represent.
Advocates On Your Side
Our years of injury litigation experience allow us to efficiently advocate for you.  We accurately assess each injury claim in order to get results for clients who have been seriously injured by the negligence of another.  In some cases, our clients had been told by other law firms that they had no case or could only expect a minimal settlement.  We put our experience and knowledge to work fighting for you and your family and in every case we attempt to maximize any settlement or jury award.  You pay no lawyer fees to us unless we recover compensation on your behalf.
Contact our Durham injury attorneys at our firm by using the “case review form” on this website or call us at 919-916-6000.  Your injury consultation is free.  We welcome attorney referrals and associations.
North Carolina Car Crash Attorneys
Durham, North Carolina and the entire Triangle is one of the best places to live in America. It also is one of the fastest growing regions in the United States.  As a result, our roadways are increasingly congested, contributing to the number and severity of serious injuries and deaths from traffic accidents.
Distracted driving is another serious cause of motor vehicle accidents, as well as accident-related injuries and fatalities.  Distracted driving results in approximately 5,500 deaths per year and another 450,000 injuries according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
At Taibi Law Group, we represent people injured in North Carolina car and truck accidents, motorcycle and bicycle accidents, and other crashes involving vehicles.  Our attorneys look carefully at every case and have successfully litigated cases that many that other firms refused to handle.
Our North Carolina attorneys have handled a wide range of motor vehicle accident claims and can help you if you have been involved in a:
  • Car or automobile accident
  • Semi-truck, tractor-trailer, utility truck or delivery truck accident
  • Vehicle accident while on-the-job
  • Motorcycle accident
  • Bus accident involving a school bus, city bus, or charter bus
  • Car-pedestrian accident
  • Bike-car accident
If you or a family member have just been hurt and need help understanding the process, or have worked with an insurer and found that they are not treating you fairly, we can help you get justice and fair compensation.  Insurance companies will pressure you to accept a quick lowball settlement offer before you know the true cost of your injuries and the value of your case.

Durham Catastrophic Injury Lawyers
A catastrophic injury changes a family's life forever.  It takes time, support and usually a great deal of money to help the injured person get medical care and services needed to regain as much independence and quality of life as possible.
An injury is considered catastrophic if the injured person requires extended medical treatment or suffers a permanent disability.  Brain injury and spinal cord injuries are some of the most serious types of catastrophic injuries.  It is especially important that any final settlement agreement cover projected costs of future care, loss of earning power, pain and suffering, and loss of quality of life.  In cases involving catastrophic injuries, we call on a team of experts to assist us in projecting costs of care and services throughout our client's entire life expectancy to ensure that you or your loved one is fully provided for.
Contact the Taibi Law Group at 919-916-6000 today. Your initial injury consultation is free.
Durham Wrongful Death Lawyers
There is no amount of money that can ever replace the loss of a loved one.  The purpose of a wrongful death claim is to compensate family members who have suffered emotionally and economically because of the loss of a family member.  The legal demands of a wrongful death claim are certainly difficult for any family during a time of mourning.  However, several important tasks must be completed in a timely manner, such as setting up the estate, conducting a thorough investigation of the facts surrounding the death of your loved one, and identifying all responsible parties.  If it is believed the death was caused by an intentional or negligent act on the part of another person, entity or corporation, an experienced wrongful death attorney should be retained to assist in these steps in order to maximize the estate’s financial recovery.
Many times this can be accomplished without filing a lawsuit, but it is imperative to retain a knowledgeable lawyer to assist in making this determination.  The lawyers at Taibi Law Group understand how to properly investigate and effectively handle a wrongful death claim and will provide you with a free consultation to assist you.
Durham Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect Lawyers
Families research and visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities to ensure their loved one receives proper care and attention.  These families place trust in the providers they choose to provide proper care and attention to their loved one.  When a family finds that their family member is receiving substandard care, neglect or abuse; you need a lawyer to fight for you and your family.
The lawyers at Taibi Law Group understand what it means to our clients to spend money and place trust for care of their loved one and then to find that they have suffered because of inadequate care, negligence or abuse resulting in:
  • Falls
  • Malnutrition or dehydration
  • Bed sores and infections
  • Wrongful death
We skillfully advocate for nursing home abuse and neglect victims in Durham and throughout North Carolina.  Taibi Law Group will do everything possible to hold nursing home and care facilities accountable for their wrongful behavior.  Please contact us at (919) 916-6000 or e-mail us to speak to a caring lawyer about your case in a free and confidential consultation.

North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Program
Workers’ Compensation is a state-required insurance program required for employers with three or more employees to compensate employees who are injured or who get ill from work-related incidents.  Workers’ Compensation pays for medical costs and lost wages resulting from a work-related injury or illness regardless of fault.  There are strict time limits for filing Worker’s Compensation claims and rules regarding who is eligible for benefits.
If you or a family member is injured at work or on the job, be sure to get medical treatment for your injury.  Tell your employer immediately about your injury, and notify your employer in writing within thirty days after the injury.  If your doctor diagnoses you with an occupational disease, you must inform your employer in writing within thirty days of the diagnosis.  Make sure to keep a copy of your written notification to your employer.
You must also file a claim with the Industrial Commission to protect your right to benefits.  Usually this means filing an Industrial Commission Form, called a Form 18, within two years of your date of injury.  It is not enough that your employer files an employer's statement of injury, otherwise known as a Form 19.  When you file a Form 18, you should also give a copy to your employer.
You should speak to a Workers’ Compensation lawyer if any of the following is occurring:
  • Your employer or insurance company is refusing to provide medical treatment for your injury
  • You are receiving medical bills for treatment related to your work injury and Workers’ Compensation is not paying the bills
  • You are not receiving your weekly checks while you are out of work or if your weekly checks have stopped coming
  • Your employer or the insurance company does not want to pay you a settlement for your partial or total disability injury
  • You think the settlement offer from your employer or the insurance company is too small
  • Your employer or insurance company won’t return your calls or listen to you
  • You are unhappy with the doctor(s) treating your injury
  • You are not sure if you have a Workers’ Compensation claim or not
If a workplace accident has caused a serious injury to you or a member of your family,  it is important to have an attorney review your case.  Every injured employee is entitled to workers' compensation, but you may also have a claim for additional compensation if your injuries were caused by a negligent party that was not your employer or an employee of your company.
Call our experienced North Carolina Workers’ Compensation lawyers today at 919-916-6000 with any other questions about what to do following an injury on the job or for more information about benefits to which you may be entitled.  Your initial injury related consultation is free.
